spoon donations welcome

March 12, 2010

We have a very limited amount of spoons in the house.  Why do I not go out and purchase additional spoons?  This one’s not chalked up to being lazy… it’s more that when I’m at Target I’m in a happy place, not thinking about bad things at home like my Least Favorite Household Chore List.

I despise washing dishes. Ranks at #1 on my Least Favorite Household Chore List. Running the stupid vacuum is a close second.

I won’t get a spoon out of the dishwasher and wash it if I need a spoon. I will find a substitution.

The other day I used a fork instead of a spoon to stir my coffee. I dumped in the sugar from the sugar canister and stirred with a fork.  For the stirring portion of this, the fork was a fine stand-in.  However, dumping the sugar was a poor choice for two reasons.  1: I spilled sugar all over the counter, and 2: there was waaaay too much sugar in my coffee.  It tasted like shit.  I had to dump it out and start over.  (And yes, I used the same method again… with only slightly better results.)

The next day I used a measuring spoon. The one right on top of the pile of little magnetic measuring spoons.  It was the 1/4 teaspoon, and I learned I like exactly 1/2 tsp. of sugar in my coffee.  (And there is no sugar on the counter.)

(And then I ran the dishwasher.)
